The special night event, Konpira Mode, is going to take place on Oct. and Nov in Kotohira! You could take a walk to the oldest theater house, Kanemaruza, to see the illumination. If you like music, you could go to the traditional Japanese wooden architecture, Kokaido, to the night concert.

★Kotohiracyo Kokaido
“Kotohiracyo Kokaido,” a traditional Japanese wooden architecture, was built in 1932 - a registered tangible cultural property. In this oasis of the local residents, Haruhiko Okabe, an international improvisational musician, plays Gagaku ancient court music using his “Hichiriki” flageolet. Visitors can experience the collaboration of solemn traditional atmosphere and Jazz-based improvisational music.
★Haruhiko Okabe/Improvisational musician (Hichiriki flageolet, saxophone).
Born in Takamatsu-city in 1961. He graduated from the faculty of law in Kagawa University, the faculty of literature and philosophy in Okayama University, and is a former member of Jazz Club in the university. Okabe learned the art of Hichiriki flageolet from Kazuhiko Fujita, a former leader of KONPIRA Shrine Music. Based in Copenhagen, Haruhiko Okabe is high, internationally acclaimed in Jazz festivals throughout Europe.
